Private Client Tax Services
What we do
Working with high quality clients, we consider that we are the pre-eminent firm for private tax work. Our offices in the City, Bristol, Guildford, Salisbury, and North London are highly regarded for the complete range of services related to people and personal tax affairs, their businesses and trusts.
We have two main areas within Private Client Tax: compliance and special/advisory.
The aim of compliance work is to provide a timely and accurate tax return in which we deal with HM Revenue & Customs to meet the legal obligations for the client.
Special/advisory work looks at tax liabilities, tax return analysis and drawing together all financial information for overviews of financial position.
Our clients
As well as owner-managed businesses, usually with over £1 million turnover, we work with large family groups, international executives, entrepreneurs, partnerships and landed estates. To give you an idea of the scale of our work, the Salisbury office alone manages 2000 private clients, 600-700 trusts, 200 partnerships and 200 companies.
What you can expect
Our training programme involves you working towards the ATT (Association of Tax Technicians) and then CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser) exams, as well as on-the-job training. Once qualified, we’ll continue to help you to develop your technical skills as well as those you’ll need to become effective managers, with courses on client meeting and coaching skills, enhancing client relationships and many more.
You will start by assisting senior staff and gaining plenty of technical experience by collating information, making calculations and forming a tax return. You’ll be allocated a group of clients for you to manage their tax affairs and also to assist with ad-hoc planning and advice projects as appropriate. As your confidence builds you become involved in more complicated matters as well as supervising a fresh intake of graduates.
Career progression
Having passed your exams, you’ll get all the training support you need. With strong performance, the right attitude and technical expertise, you can move onwards into management positions with new challenges - managing staff, reviewing work, report writing and holding meetings. Director opportunities are always there for those who have the ability.
