Assurance & Business Services

What we do

Providing a full range of financial advisory support to a diverse client base, ranging from small businesses and start ups to international groups, we are particularly well known for our strength in advising mid to large corporates across a number of industries.

Much of our work in this area revolves around external audit, along with a range of other business advisory services. As a graduate you’ll work to a large extent on the audit side, which means checking that numbers stack up with fact, and providing value-added advice to your clients.

Our clients

You’ll get to work with a whole range of businesses mid to large corporates, professional practices, charities and SMEs. The size of many of our clients means that most audits last just one or two weeks. This means you’ll quickly gain broad experience across a variety of different businesses.

Working directly with Managing and Financial Directors from a wide spectrum like this, you’ll develop a breadth of invaluable experience and the insight to help you decide where to specialise after you’ve qualified.

What you can expect

A first-class graduate training programme, with internal and external training, will give you the best possible start. Lasting three years, during which you’ll study for the ACA (Associate Chartered Accountant) exams, you’ll build valuable client experience to provide you with the knowledge and skills to become an effective auditor. And you’ll receive plenty of support in preparing for the exams, too, including meeting, presentation and client relationship skills.

Working alongside a newly qualified accountant in your first year, you’ll get a taste for working with clients. In the second year, project management comes into play, taking on a more senior role with smaller clients and supervising the new graduates. Once experienced, you’ll be ready to tackle a variety of assignments outside the audit to help achieve client objectives - such as controls reviews and helping with due diligence projects.

Career progression

Fully trained and qualified, you’ll become an assistant manager and take the lead on projects. Of course, you’ll receive training on people management to prepare you for these new challenges and, if you have what it takes, there’s no telling where your career will lead. With opportunities to move into different areas of the business and secondments both in the UK and abroad, we’re keen to promote internally and keep our best talent at the heart of the business.
